KCBT Year-To-Date Volume Ahead Of Last Year

Trading volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade remains on track to set a new annual record, with entire exchange volume up 5.5 percent when compared to last year at this time. Wheat futures volume is up 3 percent, wheat options volume is ahead by 37.2 percent and Value LineĀ® volume is up by 37.9 percent.

In August KCBT wheat futures volume exceeded August 2000 volume by 2.1 percent, with 242,876 contract traded, versus 237,878 contracts last year. Volume traded in August exceeded July 2001 volume by 23 percent.

Value Line volume traded this month exceeded August 2000 volume by 66.8 percent and open interest climbed 25.4 percent when compared to last year.

Wheat futures also set a new August single-day volume record. The previous single-day record for any given August was 19,731 contracts, set on Aug. 29, 2000. This year, 20,444 contracts traded on August 30.
