Kansas City Board of Trade trading volume for the month of July tallied 307,177 contracts, and open interest showed improvement in both the futures and options contracts.
Wheat futures open interest increased by 12.6% for the month of July, from 86,996 contracts at the end of June to 97,916 contracts at the end of July. Wheat options open interest also increased by 25.5% throughout July, standing at 10,505 open contracts at the end of the month.
Fresh open interest in the marketplace has been attributed to new money coming into the marketplace, according to traders.
