Trading volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade during October exceeded last month’s volume by .3 percent, with open interest also increasing during the month of October, by 3.3 percent.
The wheat options contract also saw increases in open interest, with a gain of 13.6 percent over last month and 20.5 percent compared to October 2006.
Open interest measures the number of open trading positions in a market.
The KCBT set another membership sales record in October as a KCBT membership sold at an all-time high of $650,000 on Oct. 18, exceeding the previous record-high of $601,000 set on Sept. 24. At the beginning of the year, the record was at only $320,000.
