During the month of March, the Kansas City Board of Trade saw an increase in open interest for the hard red winter wheat futures contract and for the wheat options contract.
Open interest in the hard red winter wheat futures contract increased 13.1 percent over the past month, currently at 131,038 contracts versus 115,897 contracts at the end of February. Open interest is also larger than at the end of last March, by 15 percent.
Wheat options open interest increased 31.4 percent in the past month and is currently at 30,628 contracts.
The Kansas City Board of Trade, founded in 1856, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat.
