KCBT February 2007 Volume and Open Interest - Volume And Open Interest For The Month Of February

Trading volume during the month of February exceeded January 2007 volume by 27.9 percent for the exchange as a whole.

The hard red winter wheat futures contract gained 28.8 percent compared to last month, with the wheat options contract increasing by 18.9 percent.

Increases in volume at the exchange in the month of February are attributed to current volatile conditions in grain commodities, and active intramarket spreading ahead of first notice of delivery including index roll activity.

The Kansas City Board of Trade, founded in 1856, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat. In 2006, the exchange celebrated its 150-year anniversary.
