Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Janet Angstadt, former General Counsel of NYSE Arca Inc., the New York Stock Exchange’s all electronic exchange for trading equities and options (formerly Archipelago), has joined the Firm as a partner in its Financial Services Practice. Ms. Angstadt will be based in the Firm’s Chicago office.
As General Counsel of NYSE Arca, Ms. Angstadt, 44, worked extensively on market structure and regulatory compliance issues, as well as managing the company’s membership and registrations department. “Janet brings extensive, hands-on regulatory experience, as well as an exceptional background in market structure issues and initiatives to our group,” said Arthur W. Hahn, national chair of Katten’s Financial Services Practice. “Our clients are exchanges, clearing organizations, broker-dealers and international banks, and Janet’s experience will be enormously valuable to them as they continue to fundamentally redesign the markets.”
Prior to joining Archipelago, Ms. Angstadt was legal counsel to the capital markets group of EVEREN Securities Inc. As a senior associate at Schiff Hardin & Waite, she also represented exchange markets and broker-dealers. Ms. Angstadt previously spent four years as senior counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Market Regulation.
She received her B.A. from St. Olaf College and her J.D. from DePaul University.
