Kansas City Board Of Trade Elects Officers, Directors For 2004

The members of the Kansas City Board of Trade elected Scott P. Smith as chairman for 2004 in an election held on Tuesday, January 6. Smith is vice president and manager of Kansas City operations for ADM Investor Services, Inc. He served as first vice chairman of the KCBT in 2003 and as second vice chairman in 2002. The first vice chairman traditionally has assumed the chairmanship of the KCBT in the following year. Smith served as the president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. from 1999 to 2001. He has also served on the exchange's board of directors from 1993 to 1994 and since 1999. Smith has been an exchange member since 1990. He succeeds John P. Crowe as chairman of the exchange.

Greg O'Brien, an individual member, has automatically advanced from the post of second vice chairman in 2003 to first vice chairman in 2004. O'Brien served as a director of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 1996 and as the president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 2002. He has also served on the exchange's board of directors from 1992 to 1993, and again from 2000 to the present. O'Brien has been an exchange member since 1985. Daniel L. Gibson, president, Wolcott & Lincoln Futures, LLC, has been elected as second vice chairman. Gibson has a long record of service to the exchange. He served three terms as a director of the KCBT Clearing Corp., from 1984 to 1985, from 1993 to 1994, and from 2000 to 2001. He has also served three terms as an exchange director, from 1987 to1988, from 1995 to 1996, and from 2002 to 2003. He was a director of the BOT Investment Co. in 1990 and 1991 and was treasurer of the exchange in 1993 and 1994. Gibson has been an exchange member since 1974.

The exchange also elected the following members to two-year terms on the board of directors: Robert M. Kissick, Jr., Interstate Brands West Corp.; Mark T. Owens, an individual member; Robert J. Rixey, an individual member; John J. Kearney, an individual member; James P. Sullivan, Man Financial Inc.; and Thomas R. Grabowsky, an individual member.

They join the following directors serving the second year of two-year terms: John M. Schorie, an individual member; William E. Krueger, Lansing Grain Company, LLC; John W. Joyce, FIMAT USA, Inc.; W. Michael Farmer, an individual member; Richard L. Mandl, Prudential Financial Derivatives, LLC; and Jerry Zalewski, Jr., an individual member.

The new officers and directors will take office at the next regular board meeting, scheduled for January 27.
