Kansas City Board Of Trade Elects Officers, Directors For 2003

The members of the Kansas City Board of Trade elected John P. Crowe to the office of chairman for 2003 on Tuesday, January 7.

Crowe, an individual member, has been an exchange member since 1993. He served as first vice chairman of the KCBT in 2002 and as second vice chairman in 2001. The first vice chairman traditionally has assumed the chairmanship of the KCBT of the following year. Crowe served as BOT Investment Co. president in 2000 and 2001, and was on the exchange's board of directors in 1998 and 1999. He also served as first vice president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 2000 and was on the KCBT Clearing Corp. board of directors in 2001.

Scott P. Smith, Vice President and Manager of Kansas City Operations, ADM Investor Services, Inc., has automatically advanced from the post of second vice chairman in 2002 to first vice chairman in 2003. Smith has been an exchange member since 1990. Smith served as the president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. from 1999 to 2001. He has also served on the exchange's board of directors from 1993 to 1994 and since 1999.

Greg O'Brien, an individual member, has been elected to the office of second vice chairman. O'Brien has been an exchange member since 1985. O'Brien served as a director of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 1996 and as the president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 2002. He has also served on the exchange's board of directors from 1992 and 1993, and again in 2000 to the present.

Exchange directors elected to two-year terms today include John M. Schorie, an individual member; William E. Krueger, Lansing Grain Company; John W. Joyce, FIMAT USA, Inc.; W. Michael Farmer, an individual member; Richard L. Mandl, Prudential Securities, Inc.; and Jerry Zalewski, Jr., an individual member.

They join the following directors serving the second year of two-year terms: Mark T. Owens, an individual member; Daniel L. Gibson, Wolcott & Lincoln Futures, LLC; Donald E. Hills, General Mills Operations, Inc.; J. Dodd Pearson, an individual member; James W. Neville, Jr., an individual member; and Paul DeBruce, DeBruce Grain, Inc. The new officers and directors will take office at the next regular board meeting, scheduled for January 28.

The Kansas City Board of Trade, chartered in 1876, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat.
