Kansas City Board Of Trade Elects Officers, Directors For 2002

The members of the Kansas City Board of Trade has elected Gregory F. Edelblute to the office of chairman for 2002.

Edelblute, Vice President-Grain, Cereal Food Processors, Inc., has been an exchange member since 1975. He has served as chairman of the KCBT since Sept. 5, 2001 following the resignation of Craig Deeds from the position. The earlier part of 2001 he served as first vice chairman and in 2000 he served as second vice chairman of the exchange. The first vice chairman traditionally has assumed the chairmanship of the KCBT the following year. Edelblute has been employed by Cereal Food Processors for the past seven years. Previously, he was employed for 21 years primarily merchandising domestic wheat for large regional grain cooperatives.

John P. Crowe, an individual member, has automatically advanced from the post of second vice chairman in 2001 to first vice chairman in 2002. Crowe has been a member of the KCBT since July 1993. Crowe served as BOT Investment Co. president in 2000 and 2001, and was on the exchange's board of directors in 1998 and 1999. He also served as first vice president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 2000 and was on the KCBT Clearing Corp. board of directors in 2001.

Scott P. Smith, Vice President and Manager of Kansas City Operations, Benson-Quinn Commodities, has been elected to the office of second vice chairman. Smith has been an exchange member since 1990. Smith served as the president of the KCBT Clearing Corp. from 1999 to present. He has also served on the exchange's board of directors since 1999. Exchange directors elected to two-year terms today include Mark T. Owens, an individual member; Daniel L. Gibson, Wolcott & Lincoln Futures, LLC; Donald E. Hills, General Mills Operations, Inc.; J. Dodd Pearson, an individual member; James W. Neville, Jr., an individual member; and Paul DeBruce, DeBruce Grain, Inc.

They join the following directors serving the second year of two-year terms: Scott Merrill, an individual member; Michael P. Simmons, an individual member; Randall O. Wallace, FC Stone, L.L.C.; Thomas G. Cernich, T.G. Cernich Corp.; L. Michael Mandl, Term Commodities; and Jack DiCapo, individual member. The new officers and directors will take office at the next regular board meeting, scheduled for January 29.

The Kansas City Board of Trade, chartered in 1876, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat.
