Kansas City Board of Trade April Volume And Open Interest

The Kansas City Board of Trade volume traded during the month of April showed significant gains over the previous month, with total exchange volume up 29.2 percent. The gain was led by the wheat futures contract, which posted a 34.4 percent increase. The wheat options contract also contributed, with a gain of 2.8 percent compared to March 2003.

Open interest also swelled during the last month in the wheat futures contract, showing a gain of 4.9 percent when compared to the previous month.

Uncertainty remained about the condition of the hard red winter wheat crop. The Wheat Quality Council will wrap up their Hard Red Winter Wheat Crop Tour at the Kansas City Board of Trade today at 2:00 p.m. CT.
