Total 2000 volume was 2,664,669 contracts at the KCBT, 5.6 percent more than the previous annual record of 2,524,376 contracts set just last year. The individual contracts setting new annual volume records at the exchange included wheat futures with a 4.6 percent increase over the previous record set in 1999 and wheat options with a stunning 51.5 percent increase over last year's record.
"The year 2000 was an exciting time at the Kansas City Board of Trade with annual records being set in wheat futures, wheat options and for the exchange as a whole," said KCBT Chairman Dan Maltby. "We started off the new century topping all previous achievements and look forward to the new challenges ahead."
