The Kansas City Board of Trade announces 2009 officers and directors, who took office at a regular board meeting held on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Members of the Kansas City Board of Trade elected James W. Neville, Jr., an individual member, as chairman in an election held earlier this month. Neville served as first vice chairman of the KCBT in 2008 and as second vice chairman in 2007. The first vice chairman traditionally has assumed the chairmanship of the KCBT in the following year.
Neville became a member in 1986 and purchased his own membership in 1991. He served one term as an exchange director, from 2002 to 2003. He served a term as a director of the KCBT Clearing Corp., from 2005 to 2006 (when he also served as first vice president). He succeeds Jeffrey W. Voge as chairman of the exchange.
Richard L. Mandl, Director, Exchange Traded Derivatives, UBS Securities, LLC, has automatically advanced from the post of second vice chairman in 2008 to first vice chairman in 2009. Mandl manages the UBS office at the Kansas City Board of Trade. Mandl became a member in 1982. He served three terms as an exchange director, from 1993 to 1994, from 2003 to 2004, and in 2007. He served in several capacities for the KCBT Clearing Corp.; from 1998 to 1999 he served as a director, in 2005 he served as secretary/treasurer, and in 2006 he served as vice president.
Michael P. Simmons, an individual member, has been elected as second vice chairman. Simmons became a member in 1995 and purchased his own membership in 1996. He served one term as an exchange director, from 2001 to 2002, also serving as treasurer the first year of his term. He served as assistant treasurer in 2003. He served as a director of the BOT Investment Co. in 2007. He also served the KCBT Clearing Corp. in 2007 as the secretary/treasurer.
The exchange also elected the following members to two-year terms on the board of directors: Daniel P. Maltby, General Mills Operations, Inc.; and Michael L. Dean, Cargill, Inc.
They join the following directors serving the second year of two-year terms: Randall O. Wallace, FC Stone, L.L.C; and Dixon B. Mooney, an individual member.
