In June 2013, all segments on SIX Swiss Exchange recorded a higher turnover than in the previous month (Structured Products being the only exception). Overall, turnover amounted to CHF 93'633 million, which corresponds to an increase of6.9% over May 2013. This growth in turnover was achieved while the number of transactions stayed flat, month-on-month (June 2013: 3'089'714, +0.0%).
Growth in turnover and number of transactions
Since the beginning of the year, a total turnover of CHF 540'033 million has been recorded on SIX Swiss Exchange andScoach Switzerland Ltd. This corresponds to a plus of 12.4% compared to the same period in the previous year. The strongest increase was achieved by ETFs (+30.1% to CHF 50'311 mn), followed by the segment for equities incl. funds and ETPs (+18.3% to CHF 385'970 mn).
With 17'817'289 trades in the first half of the year, an increase was also recorded for the number of transactions (+6.4%). Again, ETFs showed the strongest increase with a growth of 26.9% to a total of 505'917 transactions, while the increase in the equities segment amounted to 6.5% (with 16'573'448 transactions).
