July 2004 saw three out of six main indices increase. The large companies’ index – the WIG20 and the new technology index – the TechWIG declined by a couple of percent.

The cash market turnover amounted to 7 084 million PLN and it was 1% higher than in June. On the futures market, the turnover totalled to 7 686 million PLN and it was 13% lower than in the previous month.

Due to a name change from Polnord-Energobudowa to Polnord, as of July 1, 2004, the company’s shares are quoted under the new abbreviated name POLNORD and ticker symbol PND.

On July 1, 2004, allotment certificates for shares in Ceramika Nowa Gala were traded for the first time. 7 000 000 allotment certificates for ordinary bearer shares (series S) were introduced to trading on the Exchange. Ceramika Nowa Gala was established in 1995. The company’s main activity is ceramic tiles manufacturing.

On July 1, 2004, investment certificates series A issued by KB Kapital Plus II Fundusz Inwestycyjny Mieszany (mixed investment fund) were quoted for the first time. 511 673 certificates were introduced to trading (abbreviated name KBKPIIFIM).

On July 2, 2004, allotment certificates for ordinary bearer shares (series C) in PBG were quoted for the first time. 3 000 000 allotment certificates were introduced to trading (abbreviated name PBGA). PBG has been present on the Polish market since 1988 with its activity in gas supply, heating, construction, power engineering, real estate, transportation and service areas.

July 2, 2004, was the last trading day for allotment certificates concerning ordinary bearer shares series B in Hygienika. On July 5, 2004, shares of A1 and B series in the company made their debut (abbreviated name HYGIENIKA, ticker symbol HGN).

On July 5, 2004, shares of A, B, C, D and E series in SM-Media debuted on the Exchange. The company offers integrated telecommunication services, including voice telecommunication connections, dial-up access, and fixed-line Internet access, as well as other IT services related to the Internet service. The company SM-Media was admitted to the SiTech Segment for Innovative Technologies. Shares are quoted under the abbreviated name SMMEDIA and SMM ticker symbol.

Starting from July 13, 2004, the following companies were moved from the single-price auction to the continuous trading system:
main market: Odlewnie
parallel market: Ampli, Energoaparatura and Bytom.

On July 14, 2004, shares in Broker FM debuted on the main market in the continuous trading system. 1 244 929 shares of series C were introduced to trading. The main activity of the company is selling advertising time and space. Broker FM holds 99.99% stake in Radio Muzyka Fakty Sp. z o.o. Broker FM was qualified to the Segment for Innovative Technologies – SiTech. Shares are quoted under the abbreviated name RMFFM and ticker symbol RMF.

Due to the name change from Bank Przemyslowo-Handlowy PBK SA to Bank BPH SA, as of July 14, 2004, the company’s shares are quoted under the new abbreviated name BANKBPH.

On July 16, 2004, 150 000 convertible bonds concerning ordinary bearer shares (series H) in Browary Polskie Brok-Strzelec.

On July 13, 2004, allotment certificates concerning series S shares in Ceramika Nowa Gala were quoted for the last time. On July 14, 2004, shares A, B, C, D, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N and S series in this company were quoted for the first time on the Exchange. Shares are quoted under the abbreviated name NOWAGALA and ticker symbol CNG.

On July 19, 2004, one-year bearer bonds series A12 issued by Bank BPH SA with maturity on August 4, 2004, were quoted for the last time (BPHOB0804).

On July 21, 2004, three-year Treasury bonds with floating interest rate, maturing on August 5, 2004 were quoted for the last time (TZ0804).

In July 2004, apart from the newly-listed companies, shares in the following companies were introduced to trading on the Exchange: Artman, Optimus, Computerland, IB System, GTC, Agora, Amica, BRE Bank, Netia, Apator, Kredyt Bank, Grajewo, Prokom and Bank Millennium.

Changes in the WSE indices

Following the trading session of July 2, 2 500 000 shares in JCAuto were added to the WIG and WIG-PL index portfolios.

Following the trading session of July 5, 2 250 000 shares in ARTMAN were added to the WIG and WIG-PL index portfolios.

Following the trading session of July 7, 3 538 000 shares in Hygienika and 607 000 shares in SM-Media were added to the WIRR index portfolio.

Following the trading session of July 16, 31 074 000 shares in NOWAGALA and 1 245 000 shares in RMFFM were added to the WIG and WIG-PL index portfolio.

Following the trading session of July 20, 4 383 000 shares in ELSTAROIL were added to the WIG, WIG-PL and WIG-FOOD index portfolios.

Following the trading session of July 21, an extraordinary adjustment of the WIRR index participants list took place. As a result, shares of BAUMA were removed from the index portfolio.
