July 2010 Soybean Is Already Being Traded On ROFEX

On Wednesday, February 18 trading session, July 2010 Soybean was traded for the first time at a value of U$S 224.80 per tonne. Futures contracts are the best price reference for the agricultural producer.

With a volume of 1,234 contracts traded in the agricultural division, July 2010 Soybean position was traded for the first time in ROFEX, reaching a value of U$S 224.80. These coverage transactions are added to those made last week when November 2009 Soybean and May 2010 Soybean positions were launched with good volumes.

Likewise, the following positions for soybean index futures were traded: May 2009 Soybean, July 2009 Soybean and May 2010 Soybean, which closed the session at U$S 220.50, U$S 224.50 and U$S 214, decreasing 1.12%, 1.10% and 0.93%, respectively.

As regards futures with physical delivery, May 2009 Soybean was traded, decreasing 0.89% and closing the session at U$S 224.

In face of the low volumes registered in forward trades (forward contracts between producers and exporters), futures trades become the most efficient price coverage tool.
