10.2 million transactions were registered on Euronext’s cash markets in July 2004, bringing the total number of transactions since the beginning of the year to 84.5 million. A daily average of 567,000 transactions were completed in the year-to-date.
Shares
9.7 million transactions were completed in July. A total of 80.3 million transactions have been registered so far this year, representing an average daily volume of 539,000.
Trackers
Transactions in trackers amounted to 18,500 during July. In the year-to-date there have been a total of 177,500 transactions in trackers, representing 1,200 per day.
Derivatives products
Euronext.liffe, the international derivatives business of Euronext, traded over 57 million contracts in July 2004. Year-to-date the exchange has traded 495 million futures and options contracts, up 21% on the same period in 2003.
Equity products continued to show strong sector growth in July 2004, trading 34 million contracts, up 7% on July 2003 and up 26% year-to-date. Individual Equity products were up by 44% January to July, trading 23 million contracts in the month of July 2004. Euronext.liffe’s Commodity products also featured strongly, trading 755,000 contracts in July 2004, up 43% on the same month in 2003.
Euronext.liffe’s Eurodollar future, launched on 18 March, traded 336,560 contracts in July representing an average daily volume of 15,298. Open interest reached a record during the month of over 95,000 contracts.
Euronext.liffe Amsterdam set an open interest record of 21,811,609 contracts on 15 July 2004.
