Jon Bosak To Highlight FISD’s XML For The Financial Industry Conference - Annual Standards Conference Will Highlight Industry Issues

Date 30/03/2006

The Financial Information Services Division [FISD] of the Software & Information Industry Association announces its annual conference on XML. Scheduled for May 3 at the Princeton Club in New York, XML for The Financial Industry: From Issuance to Settlement will illustrate the applicability of XML-based standards to each part of the issuance and trading lifecycle.

XML for The Financial Industry will examine the exciting new applications of technological standards, while maintaining a solid business justification, and discuss efforts within the financial industry to bring harmony among standards and across industries in a competitive environment.

Jon Bosak, Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, organized and led the working group that created XML. He is a long-time member of OASIS, the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, and chaired the committee that developed the OASIS process for the definition of industry-specific XML markup standards. Bosak will discuss “Moving an Industry to a Common Standard” in an interview format with Bob Prinsky, Senior Editor, Product Development, Dow Jones Newswires.

In addition, XML for The Financial Industry will examine the standards for securities and research such as MDDL, XBRL, RIXML, NewsML, and UBL, and how their adoption fits in the business of managing financial information. Case studies will illustrate the practical use of these standards in business settings. The conference will include a special afternoon track dedicated to XBRL.

Attendees will be IT development and management staff, program and project management, software architects and engineers dealing in information interchange in the financial industry.
