JET API JSE Member Firms join the system

Date 16/05/2000

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) confirms that nine of its member firms have converted today to the JET API (Johannesburg Equities Trading Application Programme Interface) system. This is the first group of members to join the system since it went live on Monday, 8 May 2000. Another six members are expected to convert by 29 May 2000.

Comments Mike Bastenie, General Manager Market Operations: " All the member firms are to be commended for their hard work during the testing and implementation phases of the system. JET API will allow them to develop their own front-end trading systems and make it possible for clients to place orders and confirm trades with members electronically."

JET API was developed to address the JSE members' need for an individualised approach to investors. Although MarketWorks permits direct access to the JET System, it does not allow for the introduction of innovations which would give members a competitive advantage. JET API forms part of the JSE's mission to deliver world-class service.
