Jeffrey E. Kopiwoda Joins DV Trading, LLC As Chief Operating Officer And General Counsel - Shifra Katz Promoted To Chief Compliance Officer And Senior Counsel

Date 04/03/2020

DV Trading, LLC announced today that Jeffrey E. Kopiwoda has joined the firm as its Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel.  DV has also promoted Shifra Katz to Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Counsel.

In addition to overseeing DV's legal affairs, Kopiwoda will be responsible for executing the firm's business development and expansion plans.  Together with DV's Chief Financial Officer, Richard J. Horgan, Kopiwoda will also oversee the firm's internal processes, governance and operations.  Before joining DV in 2016, Katz worked as an attorney for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the National Futures Association.

Having served as outside counsel to DV since 2013, Kopiwoda was instrumental in facilitating DV's spin-out from Chicago-based brokerage firm Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG) in 2016.  "We have repeatedly benefitted from Jeff's judgment and legal acumen over the past six years," said DV Co-Founder Jared Vegosen, "and we are looking forward to having him as a full-time member of our executive team to help us continue to scale and expand."

Before joining DV, Kopiwoda was a partner at Chicago-based law firm Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman and Dunn, Ltd. (FVLD), where he represented banks, brokerage firms, hedge funds, private equity firms and proprietary trading firms.  He will remain of counsel to the law firm.  Prior to re-joining FVLD in 2011, Kopiwoda spent nearly seven years as Chief Legal Officer of a 500-person European-based hedge fund platform, with offices in more than 20 countries and over $2 billion in assets.

"I've had the good fortune to work with DV founders Dino Verbrugge and Jared Vegosen over the years and observe first-hand not only their insightfulness and creativity but also their impressive ability to grow and thrive in an environment where others are contracting," said Kopiwoda.  "I'm thrilled to join them full-time in their efforts to make DV the best environment for traders to provide market liquidity and hedging opportunities that spur the economy."

Kopiwoda earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University's College of Business, and a law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was a member of both its Law Review and Moot Court honor societies.
