NYMEX Division futures and options trading of 9,195,222 contracts broke the previous monthly record of 8,922,086 futures and options contracts traded in March 1999.
Exchange-wide options volume of 2,213,925 contracts topped the monthly record of 2,145,021 contracts set in October 1999.
The NYMEX Division options trading volume of 1,961,271 contracts surpassed the previous monthly record of 1,792,637 options contracts traded in November 2001.
NYMEX Division energy futures and options volume of 9,181,056 contracts exceeded the previous record of 8,921,400 energy contracts set in March 1999.
A total of 1,961,228 NYMEX Division energy options contracts were traded versus the 1,792,592-contract record set in November 2001.
Light, sweet crude oil options trading totaled 996,657 contracts for the month, surpassing the previous monthly record of 949,386 set in March 1998.
Natural gas options trading volume in January was 859,522 contracts, breaking the record of 796,582 contracts set in November 2001.
The Exchange-wide volume of 10,667,587 contracts was second only to the 10,924,929 contracts traded in March 1999.
