January 2006 - Euronext Key Indicators - 18.5 Million Cash Transactions In January, Up 42.8% Year-On-Year - Busiest Month Ever - Euronext.liffe’s Individual Equity Products Up 50% On January 2005

Cash products

18.5 million transactions were completed on Euronext’s cash market in January 2006, up 42.8% on the same month last year, making it the busiest month ever and surpassing the previous record level of 15.1 million registered in September 2005. This represents a record daily average of 841,000, up 33% on the 2005 daily average of 632,000.

Shares
17.7 million transactions were registered in shares in January 2006, up 43.2% on the same month in 2005, representing an average of 803,000 share transactions completed each day. The 27 January was the second busiest trading day ever with 1,057,752 transactions completed on shares.

NextTrack
Transactions on NextTrack amounted to 69,000 during January 2006, up 248% year-on-year, making it the second busiest month ever for these products.

NextWarrants
Transactions on NextWarrants, which includes warrants and certificates, amounted to a record level of 620,000 in January 2006, up 38.6 % on the same month last year.

Derivatives products

Euronext.liffe, the international derivatives business of Euronext, traded over 16 million individual equity products in January 2006, a significant increase of 50% on January 2005.

A total exchange volume of over 57 million futures and options contracts was traded in January 2006, up 26% on the same month in 2005.

Interest rate products, commodity products and Universal Stock Futures (USFs) all traded a record January volume with interest rate products trading over 30 million contracts, up 13% on January 2005 and commodity products a record 692,656 contracts, also up 13%. USFs traded 1.13 million contracts during the month, a rise of nearly 300% on the same month last year. Volume in USF’s was concentrated in Spanish and German stocks as users started to take up new positions ahead of the dividend season.

Amsterdam options traded a record January trading over 11 million contracts, up 69% year on year.
