Rosenthal Collins Group LLC (RCG®), a leading independent futures clearing firm, announced that J. Robert Collins, its co-founder and Managing Member, was inducted today into the FIA Futures Hall of Fame. Collins and the other 2017 inductees were announced and honored today at the 42nd Annual International Futures Conference in Boca Raton.
Originally established in 1923 as Greene & Collins, Rosenthal Collins Group is one of the largest independently owned Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs).
With more than five decades of experience in futures, asset management, finance, banking and real estate, Collins was born into the futures business. His father, John F. Collins, co-founded RCG predecessor firm Greene & Collins at the Chicago Open Board of Trade (later known as the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange) in 1923. Bob Collins joined the firm in 1961 and subsequently led it through two successful mergers to form what is now Rosenthal Collins Group LLC.
RCG co-founder and Managing Member Les Rosenthal, who was inducted into the FIA Futures Hall of Fame in its inaugural year in 2005, said: “There is no one more deserving of this award than my long-time friend and partner Bob Collins. Bob’s keen knowledge of markets and his compassion and sense of fair play are an inspiration to us all.”
Walt Lukken, FIA President and CEO, said: “Our industry has a long tradition of problem-solving, innovation and collaboration. We established the FIA Futures Hall of Fame to recognize the men and women who have made exceptional contributions to the growth and development of the futures and options business. This year’s inductees represent advocates, policymakers and visionaries who have provided the leadership and support necessary to keep growing our industry. I am grateful for Bob Collins’ service to our community, and I am honored to present him with this recognition.”
The FIA Futures Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of individuals involved in the futures, options and listed derivatives industry.
Collins has been a long-time member of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), Chicago Mercantile Exchange and New York Mercantile Exchange (now all part of CME Group) and of the New York Board of Trade (now ICE Futures U.S.). Formerly President of the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange, he served as a Board member of the CBOT and of the Millennium Trust Company as well as a Governor and Vice Chairman of the former Board of Trade Clearing Corporation. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bancorp Financial, parent company of Evergreen Bank Group.
