Irish Stock Exchange Admits Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland As A Primary Dealer In Irish Government Bonds

Date 07/06/2013

The Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) has admitted Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland Ltd (“Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland”) as a Primary Dealer in Irish Government Bonds. The admission of Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland as a Primary Dealer extends the firm’s existing trading activities on the ISE, where it currently trades equities on the ISE’s electronic trading platform, ISE Xetra®. Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland provides institutional bond and equity market trading and dealing, investment banking services, retail stockbroking, and pension services to its clients. Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. is the parent entity of Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland and Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.

The main role of the Primary Dealer is to continuously make markets in Irish Government Bonds as  well  as  participating  in  bond  and  bill  issuance  organised  by  the  National  Treasury Management Agency.

“We are pleased to be recognised by the Irish Stock Exchange and the National Treasury Management Agency as a Primary Dealer in Irish Government bonds,” said Shawn P. Matthews, Chief Executive Officer of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. and Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland. “Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland has been an active participant in the Irish Government bond market and achieving this dealership status further demonstrates our commitment to the Irish marketplace and to providing domestic liquidity to our clients.”

Commenting on the new membership, Brian Healy, Director of Traded Markets, Development, Operations at the ISE, said “We are delighted that Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland has extended its range of activities on the ISE to include Primary Dealing. This demonstrates the depth of Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland’s commitment to the Irish market and further reflects the strong international interest  in  Irish  Government  bonds  and  bills.  The  firm’s  global  network  and  distribution capabilities will bring even more liquidity to the Irish Government bond and bill market. It brings to eighteen the number of Primary Dealers trading on the ISE.”
