IPE Launches New IPE Brent Pricing Indices

The International Petroleum Exchange (IPE), Europe's leading energy exchange, today announced that it will publish two new indices for IPE Brent Crude futures as of Friday 3rd January 2003.

These new indices will be for the recorded trade weighted average of IPE Brent Crude futures from 17.25 - 17.30 and from 17.29 - 17.30, published for the front two months.

The 17.25 - 17.30 trade weighted average will be known as the IPE Brent 5 minute marker.

The 17.29 - 17.30 trade weighted average will be known as the IPE Brent 1 minute marker.

These new indices will be available from approximately 17.45 each evening, and will be posted to http://www.ipe.uk.com/data/users/intraday_bwave.asp.

"Market participants have made a direct request for these indices," said Jackie Bullimore Head of Oil Markets. "To further help oil market participants effectively manage their price risk the Exchange will accept EFP and EFS transactions priced against either of these new marker numbers."
