IPE Further Enhances Its Disciplinary Processes

The International Petroleum Exchange (IPE), Europe’s leading energy futures and options exchange, today announced that it had appointed two additional senior and distinguished independent legal practitioners to its Disciplinary and Appeals Panels.

In accordance with the Financial Services Authority’s recognition requirements and the Human Rights Act 1998, the IPE’s Remunerations and Appointments Committee (rules E4.4 and E4.14) has appointed Ian Glick QC as Disciplinary Panel Chairman and Lord Browne-Wilkinson as Disciplinary Appeal Panel Chairman.

Ian Glick is a general commercial legal advisor and advocate. He was formerly standing junior counsel to the DTI in export credit cases. From 1997 to 1999 he was Chairman of the Commercial Bar Association. He sits as a deputy High Court Judge and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Lord Browne-Wilkinson was a High Court Judge, Judge of the Court of Appeal and Law Lord between 1977 and 2000. He retired as senior Law Lord in 2000. He was President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal from 1981 to 1983. In 2002, he was appointed by The Bank of England as Chairman of the Financial Markets Law Commission.

The IPE further announced the appointment of a panel of expert practitioners who will be available to assist the Disciplinary and Appeal Chairmen with technical market matters.
