IPE Brent Crude Futures Sets New Daily Record

The International Petroleum Exchange (IPE), Europe's leading energy futures and options exchange, today reported a new daily record for its Brent Crude futures contract.

IPE Brent Crude futures traded 175,465 lots on 13 November 2002, equivalent to over 175 million barrels of crude oil, beating the previous record set on 7 January 2002 when 174,037 lots of IPE Brent Crude futures were traded.

"The IPE Brent Crude futures contract provides the market with an efficient and effective risk management and trading tool" said Jackie Bullimore, Head of Oil Markets. "The high level of liquidity reflected in this new record is testament to the confidence market participants have in IPE Brent as a transparent, well regulated and financially secure trading instrument."
