IPE Appoints Marc Leppard As New Director Of Regulation And Control

Date 21/07/2000

The IPE, Europe’s leading energy futures and options exchange, has appointed Marc Leppard as its new Director of Regulation and Control.

Mr Leppard has an impressive track record in regulation and compliance, beginning his career in the Civil Service (Home Office and the Office of Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration [OPCA]). Having spent six years with the Civil Service, he moved to the Securities and Investment Board (SIB), latterly responsible for monitoring and assessing compliance by regulatory bodies within the standards set by SIB. In 1995, he moved to ING Derivatives as Head of Compliance, where he successfully introduced a compliance monitoring regime and advised senior management on compliance issues. Then in 1997 he moved to Credit Lyonnais Rouse to take up the role of Director of Compliance, where he was responsible for the company’s relationship with the regulators and successfully implemented new reporting and monitoring initiatives. Earlier this year he transferred to Credit Lyonnais with specific responsibility for banking.

Mr Leppard, 37, takes up his post at the IPE on 7 August. He joins Stephen Gutteridge, Business Development Director, and the recently promoted Finance Director, David Peniket, to form the IPE’s executive management team reporting to Richard Ward, Chief Executive. Richard Ward said "I am delighted to welcome Marc as Director of Regulation and Control at the IPE. His strong regulatory background and existing relationships with regulators will be of great value to the IPE. Marc’s appointment together with David’s promotion completes the executive management team. I now believe I have the right team in place to further develop the Exchange’s business and I look forward to working with them".
