Investor Relations Professionals Invited To NZX In November

Date 18/09/2009

NZX is hosting the annual Australasian Investor Relations Association (AIRA) course this year on November 12 at the NZX Centre in Wellington.

The 2009 course is a full day event developed to give practitioners an overview of the Investor Relations (IR) function and provide guidance on developing a successful annual IR programme. AIRA is the professional association in Australia and New Zealand dedicated to advancing the importance and standards of investor relations for listed companies.

"This is a very practical course that is designed for any listed company or its advisers and for anyone who assumes the responsibility for, or needs an understanding of, investor relations.  We are also delighted to be offering the course in Wellington for the first time with the support of NZX," said AIRA CEO, Ian Matheson.

Core topics at the course this year are developing an annual IR calendar, an NZX Listing Rule refresher session and an effective communication with the market discussion panel with analyst, fund manager and broker representatives.

NZX Markets Development Manager, Geoff Brown said, "The AIRA events are run to advance the importance and standards of investor relations, it is great to be able to host NZX Listed Companies on behalf of AIRA for this purpose in 2009."

Communicating with investors through online channels is an area of increasing focus for listed companies. This year the facilitator of the Wired Best Investor Website Awards (Wired BIWA), Bruce Russell of Wired Internet Group, will be presenting on best practice guidelines for Investor Relations websites.

Presenting online IR case studies this year at the AIRA course are Chris Roberts of NZ Oil & Gas, winner of the Wired Best Investor Website Award 2009, and Catherine Walker of Xero who will talk participants through how Xero uses Social Media channels to talk to customers and stakeholders.
