Investor Activity On Warsaw Stock Exchange Markets: May 2014

  • The total value of trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 18.7 billion in May 2014, an increase of 7.7% year on year.
  • The value of the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect increased by 22.1% year on year and stood at PLN 74.1 million in May 2014.
  • The value of issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 64.7 billion in May 2014, an increase of 17.8% year on year.
  • The value of trading in structured products increased by 112.9% year on year and stood at PLN 39.8 million in May 2014.
  • The total volume of trading in gas was 1.3 TWh in May 2014, an increase of 135% month on month.

The total value of trading in equities on the Main Market was PLN 18.7 billion in May 2014, an increase of 7.7% year on year. The value of the Electronic Order Book (EOB)  was PLN 16.3 billion, a decrease of 0.6%  year on year. The incremental value of the EOB was PLN 90.9 billion year to date at the end of May 2014, an increase of 1.9% year on year. The average number of transactions per session was 59 thousand in January-May 2014, an increase of 27% year on year.

The total value of trading in equities on NewConnect increased by 25.5% year on year and stood at PLN 79.2 million in May 2014. The value of the EOB increased by 22.1% to PLN 74.1 million in the period under review. The number of transactions per session on NewConnect also increased from 47.9 thousand in May 2013 to 65.2 thousand in May 2014.

The value of non-Treasury issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 64.7 billion in May 2014, an increase of 17.8% year on year.

The total volume of trading in electricity was 11.6 TWh in May 2014, a modest increase year on year (+0.1%). The volume of trading in property rights increased by 27.0% year on year and stood at 1.8 TWh in May 2014. The total volume of trading in gas was 1.3 TWh in May 2014, an increase of 1615.3% year on year and 134.6% month on month.

The capitalisation of 408 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 611.0 billion (EUR 147.5 billion) at the end of May 2014.

The total capitalisation of 456 domestic and foreign companies listed on the WSE Main Market was PLN 914.5 billion (EUR 220.8 billion) at the end of May 2014.

The company Briju was newly listed on the WSE Main Market in May 2014. It was the eleventh new listing on the market in 2014 and the thirtieth company in WSE history to transfer from NewConnect to the WSE Main Market.

Two companies were newly listed on NewConnect in May 2014: 2C Partners and Agtes.

Bonds of the company Erbid were newly listed on Catalyst in May 2014. The value of the issue was PLN 52 million.

WSE held 21 trading sessions in May 2014, one more than in May 2013.
