Equity Market
August 2024 saw stock prices rise on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. GPW Main Market total equity turnover value reached PLN 25.3 billion, an increase of 25.1% year on year. EOB equity turnover value rose 25.9% year on year to PLN 25.3 billion. Average daily EOB equity turnover value was PLN 1.20 billion, up 31.9% year on year. The WIG index closed August 2024 at 84,868.25 points, gaining 8.17% year to date.
NewConnect total equity turnover value was PLN 113.2 million in August 2024, down 43.9% year on year. NewConnect EOB equity turnover value dropped also 43.9% year on year to PLN 112.3 million.
GlobalConnect equity turnover value reached PLN 3.9 million in August 2024 vs. PLN 0.2 million in August 2023.
Derivatives Market
Total derivatives turnover volume was 0.9 million instruments in August 2024, a decrease of 12.1% year on year. Index futures turnover decreased by 3.8% year on year to 566,000 futures. Currency futures turnover decreased by 39.7% year on year to 168,600 futures. Single-stock futures turnover was 100,100 futures, up by 12.9% year on year.
Structured Product and ETF Market
Structured product turnover value increased by 1.8% year on year, reaching PLN 242.5 million in August 2024. Total ETF and ETC turnover value increased sharply by 113.6% year on year and reached PLN 168.3 million.
Debt Market
The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst reached PLN 118.2 billion at the end of August 2024 vs. PLN 105.0 billion at the end of August 2023. Catalyst EOB bond turnover value increased by 79.4% year on year to PLN 568.1 million.
Treasury BondSpot Poland total bond turnover value was PLN 116.3 billion, up 186.9% from PLN 40.5 billion in August 2023.
Capitalisation of GPW Listed Companies
The capitalisation of the 368 domestic companies listed on the Main Market in August 2024 amounted to PLN 784.5 billion (EUR 183.4 billion). The total capitalisation of the 410 domestic and foreign companies reached PLN 1,562.6 billion (EUR 365.1 billion).
New Listings
Municipal bonds of the municipality of Pszczyna worth PLN 33 million and corporate bonds of the real estate developer OKAM Capital sp. z o.o. worth PLN 50 million were newly listed on Catalyst in August 2024.
