Investor Activity On GPW Group Markets – November 2018

  • Decrease of the value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book[1] on the GPW Main Market by 16.7% YoY to PLN 17.8 billion in November 2018
  • Increase of the total volume of trading in futures by 14.9% YoY to 664.3 thousand contracts in November 2018
  • Increase of the total value of trading in equities on NewConnect by 80.0% YoY to PLN 176.2 million
  • Increase of the value of trading in structured products by 11.4% YoY to PLN 95.4 million
  • Increase of the total volume of trading in electricity by 110.7% to 22.6 TWh in November 2018

  • Decrease of the volume of spot trading in property rights to certificates of origin[2] by 25.1% to 2.8 TWh in November 2018

The total value of trading in equities on the GPW Main Market was PLN 18.0 billion in November 2018, representing a decrease of 17.9% year on year. The value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book decreased by 16.7% year on year to PLN 17.8 billion in November 2018. The average daily value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book stood at PLN 889.8 million in November 2018, a decrease of 12.5% year on year. The WIG index stood at 58,203.39 points at the end of November 2018, representing a decrease of 6.8% year on year.

The total value of trading in equities on NewConnect increased by 80.0% year on year to PLN 176.2 million in November 2018. The value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect increased by 111.2% year on year and stood at PLN 173.2 million in November 2018.

The total volume of trading in derivatives was 664.3 thousand contracts in November 2018, representing an increase of 14.9% year on year. The volume of trading in currency futures increased by 109.7% to 162.8 thousand contracts. The volume of trading in index futures increased by 2.8% year on year to 343.9 thousand contracts.

The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 86.5 billion at the end of November 2018 compared to PLN 72.3 billion at the end of November 2017.[3] The value of trading in non-Treasury bonds on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst decreased by 11.6% year on year to PLN 170.1 million in November 2018.

The total value of trading in bonds on TBSP was PLN 39.9 billion in November 2018, representing a decrease of 18.2% year on year.

The total volume of spot and forward transactions in electricity was 22.6 TWh in November 2018, representing an increase of 110.7% year on year. The volume of forward transactions in electricity increased by 133.0% year on year to 20.0 TWh.

The total volume of transactions in natural gas was 13.4 TWh in November 2018, representing a decrease of 8.9% year on year. The volume of trading on the spot market increased by 25.5% to 2.7 TWh. The volume of trading on the forward market decreased by 14.8% and stood at 10.7 TWh.

The volume of spot transactions in property rights to certificates of origin excluding the rights to certificates of energy efficiency (“white certificates”)[1] was 2.8 TWh in November 2018, representing a decrease of 25.1% year on year. The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin of energy efficiency (“white certificates”) decreased by 67.9% year on year to 16.3 ktoe[2] in November 2018.

GPW held 20 trading sessions in November 2018 compared to 21 sessions in November 2017.

The capitalisation of 420 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 619.30 billion (EUR 144.34 billion) at the end of November 2018.

The total capitalisation of 467 domestic and foreign companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 1,215.79 billion (EUR 283.37 billion) at the end of November 2018.

The company Pointpack.pl was newly listed on NewConnect in November 2018 (private placement worth PLN 2.13 million).

Bonds of the company JHM Development worth PLN 10.5 million were newly listed on Catalyst in November 2018.
