Investor Activity On GPW Group Markets – July 2017

  • Decrease of the value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book[1] on the Main Market by 0.9% YoY to PLN 16.8 billion
  • Increase of the value of bond issues listed on Catalyst by 6.2% to PLN 83.7 billion
  • Increase of the total value of trade in bonds on TBSP by 38.1% YoY to PLN 40.8 billion
  • Increase of the volume of spot and forward transactions in gas by 225.7% YoY to 15.1 TWh
  • Increase of the volume of spot and forward transactions in electricity by 2.6% YoY to 8.6 TWh
  • Increase of the volume of trade in property rights to certificates of origin by 59.9% to 4.9 TWh[2]

The total value of trade in equities on the Main Market was PLN 21.0 billion in July 2017, representing a decrease of 0.4% year on year. The value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book decreased by 0.9% year on year to PLN 16.8 billion and the average daily value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book stood at PLN 797.8 million in July 2017, a decrease of 0.9% year on year. The WIG index stood at 62,595.76 points at the end of July 2017, representing an increase of 35.6% year on year.

The total value of trade in equities on NewConnect increased by 44.6% year on year. The value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book on the GPW alternative market was PLN 93.5 million, an increase of 42.8% year on year.

The total volume of trade in derivatives was 416.6 thousand contracts in July 2017, representing a decrease of 21% year on year. The volume of trade in index futures was 237.4 thousand contracts in July 2017, representing a decrease of 20.1% year on year. The volume of trade in interest rate futures increased to 512 contracts in July 2017 compared to 4 contracts in July 2016.

The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 83.7 billion at the end of July 2017, representing an increase of 6.2% year on year. The value of trade in non-Treasury bonds on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst increased by 4.4% year on year to PLN 184 million.

The total value of trade in bonds on TBSP was PLN 40.8 billion in July 2017, representing an increase of 38.1% year on year.

The total volume of transactions in gas was 15.1 TWh in July 2017, representing an increase of 225.7% year on year. The volume of trade on the spot market decreased by 3% and stood at 1 TWh. The total volume of spot and forward transactions in electricity was 8.6 TWh in July 2017, representing an increase of 2.6% year on year. The volume of forward transactions in electricity increased by 5.7% year on year to 6.7 TWh in July 2017.

The volume of spot and forward transactions in property rights to certificates of origin excluding the rights to certificates of energy efficiency (“white certificates”)[3] was 4.9 TWh in July 2017, representing an increase of 59.9% year on year. The volume of trade in property rights to certificates of origin of energy efficiency (“white certificates”) was 19.2 ktoe[4] in July 2017 compared to 0.08 ktoe in July 2016.

The capitalisation of 433 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 662.98 billion (EUR 155.83 billion) at the end of July 2017. The total capitalisation of 485 domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market was PLN 1,385.2 billion (EUR 325.58 billion) at the end of July 2017.

The companies Morizon, Getback, and Play Communications were newly listed on the GPW Main market in July 2017. The total value of their IPOs was over PLN 5.12 billion in July 2017.

The company Bit Evil was newly listed on the NewConnect market in July 2017 with an IPO of more than PLN 2 million.

Bonds of the company MLP Group (EUR 20 million) were newly listed on Catalyst in July 2017.

GPW held 21 trading sessions in July 2017, the same as in July 2016.
