The annual Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (IMKL) conference returns for its 13th edition this year. Co-organised by Bursa Malaysia and CIMB Investment Bank, the conference will take place from 25th to 26th July 2017.
Themed Malaysia at 60: Maximising Potential, IMKL 2017 coincides with Malaysia’s 60th independence anniversary celebrations. The conference is also being held amidst a slew of positive proof points for Malaysia’s economy and capital market, underlining Malaysia’s status as the investment and listing destination of choice.
“Invest Malaysia Kuala Lumpur 2017 couldn’t have come at a better time. The economy remains resilient in the face of external economic challenges. Our fundamentals are strong, the Ringgit is stabilising and our economy is on track for a higher GDP growth this year. We have also seen the return of capital flow to the market,” says Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan, Chief Executive Officer, Bursa Malaysia. “For investors looking for growth opportunities in an advanced emerging capital market, I’d say now is the most opportune time for them to look at Malaysia.”
“Malaysia is more than just a country that is conducive for investments with it's strong legal and investment framework, and investor-friendly policies and incentives. Malaysia is also the gateway to access the growing ASEAN market with its combined GDP of US$2.4 trillion. Many of the companies showcased at IMKL 2017 have businesses both within and beyond Malaysia, which is a testament to its importance as a regional hub, particularly for Southeast Asia,” says Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group.
The conference will be officiated by YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia. YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Razak will also be launching Bursa Malaysia’s latest initiative that will make it easier for underserved small and medium-sized enterprises to raise funds from the capital market in a more efficient manner.
IMKL 2017 will present five plenary sessions that will see top foreign fund managers and captains of industry having a discourse with regulators and policy makers on topics ranging from the strength of Malaysia’s fundamentals and their ability to navigate economic uncertainties, to plans by Malaysia’s pension and investment funds to increase returns to shareholders. And with digital economy being the buzzword globally, participants will also hear from the likes of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, Google Malaysia and Lazada Malaysia on being digital disruptors or risk being left behind.
