Date 28/01/2010

The Invest Malaysia 2010 conference, which will be held on 30 and 31 March, 2010 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, promises to broaden investors' horizons with key investment opportunities that are available from the Malaysian capital market. This year, Maybank Investment Bank and Nomura Holdings will participate as partners in this equity forum to further promote Malaysian corporations and Malaysia as ASEAN's premier investment destination, in line with this year's theme Powering Global Excellence. This year's forum will also see direct participation of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) who will showcase foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities and Malaysia's increasingly pivotal role in the ASEAN marketplace to delegates.

Organised annually by Bursa Malaysia, Invest Malaysia has consistently set the tone and provided the impetus for the global investment community to shape their investment strategies on Malaysia's investment offerings. The overwhelming positive response to past editions of Invest Malaysia reflect the strong local and foreign interest in the investment options and potential of the Malaysian capital market, and marks the conference as a must-attend event on many institutional investors' calendar.

Dato' Yusli Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia said, "The prospects of the Malaysian investment story remain positive and go beyond Malaysian shores. We already boast many notable listed companies with strong footprints in ASEAN countries, giving investors who invest in our companies exposure to the region. Our aim is also to drive a more collaborative ASEAN investment community and ultimately position ASEAN as an asset class.

"With market recovery on the cards based on analyst opinions, I believe now is a good time to invest in Malaysia and participate in the growth potential of our companies. I am excited at the prospect of working with our partners, Maybank Investment Bank and Nomura Holdings, to showcase our international champions as well as the key driving sectors that offer great potential to investors."

In celebrating its landmark 50th anniversary, Malaysia's largest banking group, Maybank recognises the significance of Invest Malaysia as a platform to showcase Malaysia's growth in the region. Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Maybank Investment Bank said, "In our 50 years of financial domestic leadership and over 36 years as a top-ranked investment bank, we have seen Malaysia increasingly become the heart of ASEAN and our success goes hand-in-hand with Malaysia's success. As the communities we serve grow and expand regionally, so too, do we.

"We are very excited to be a part of the new Malaysia story. Through our own experience of regionalisation, we have gained many unique insights into the ASEAN markets. While many of our companies have already succeeded in becoming regional champions, many rising stars are still looking to realise regional ambitions and may not always be on investors' radar screens. We are here to help them become visible through engagement platforms like Invest Malaysia."

Invest Malaysia 2010 is also significant to Nomura Holdings, one of the world's largest investment banking group which is marking its 36th year of operations in Malaysia and the first anniversary of securities trading in Malaysia. Yoshikazu Adachi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nomura Securities Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. said, "We have tremendously enhanced our presence on a global scale, and as the top global investment bank, the time is right for us to leverage on our presence in Malaysia to bring Malaysia's unique investment opportunities to our global investment communities.

"We aim to add depth to our reach in these markets and Invest Malaysia 2010 is the ideal platform for us to engage the untapped overseas markets, in particular the Japanese investors, and pave the way for investment opportunities and possibilities for Malaysia."

Dato' Jalilah Baba, Director-General of MIDA said, "Invest Malaysia 2010 is the ideal platform for MIDA to engage our portfolio of multi-national companies (MNCs) already investing in Malaysia and entice potential foreign investors to examine key growth sector opportunities such as services and renewable energy."

The highlight of Invest Malaysia 2010 will be the keynote address by YAB Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The three partners are in unison in their expectations of market friendly policy announcements that have been the hallmark of all Invest Malaysia conferences.

Invest Malaysia 2010 will bring together policy-makers, regulators and senior management of select public-listed companies in direct engagement with numerous international senior fund management representatives. Invest Malaysia 2010 expects to attract more than 600 local and foreign investors, with the participation of over 25 listed companies. Typically, Invest Malaysia has been well attended by institutional investors and fund managers from Singapore and Hong Kong. This year, institutional investors and fund managers are also expected to attend from Japan and the Middle East. Key highlights will be corporate presentations, interactive panel discussions, keynote speeches and networking sessions that would enable delegates to gain a unique insight into the outlook of Malaysia's economy and capital market in the year ahead.
