New Education Initiative
ISE has formed an education department within its marketing and business development (M&BD) division that provides options educational training for ISE member firms as well as prospective members. The expansion of the M&BD division to include a focused educational program is a direct result of ISE's philosophy that creating greater primary demand among Exchange constituents will enhance its business growth. This new initiative recognizes the growing stature that ISE has attained in contributing to the greater success of the listed options industry.
Volume & Market Share
Despite the usual summertime market doldrums, ISE posted significant growth since the same period last year. In August, ISE averaged 601,683 contracts daily, an increase of 128% from the August 2001 average daily volume of 263,518 contracts.
ISE's market share in its listed products averaged 26% for August, up from 14% in August 2001. Its market share for all listed equity options averaged 23%, compared to 11% for August of 2001.
The Exchange is now the primary market, as represented by volume, in 240 of its 505 issues; the current list of all issues traded is always available on our web site (www.iseoptions.com) within the section entitled "Product Information."
