FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

International Securities Exchange To Offer Enhanced Sentiment Offering

Date 20/10/2005

The International Securities Exchange (NYSE: ISE) announced today that it will be offering an enhanced version of the ISE Sentiment Index(R) (ISEE(R)) early next year. The enhanced ISEE will allow subscribers to identify bullish and bearish investor sentiment for any issue traded on the ISE, including ISE proprietary and licensed indices and customized sectors.

ISEE is a market indicator that provides an overall view of market direction as determined by the trading activity of options investors. Investors' call and put purchases may provide a relatively candid view of how investors feel about a security, or even the stock market. Sentiment indicators may be a valuable part of investment research because they provide a snapshot into the psychology of the options market.

The enhanced sentiment offering will be available on-line to investors on a subscription basis, as well as through a broker marketing alliance program. The enhanced ISEE offering will include sentiment values for particular indices, industry sectors or individual stocks calculated three times per hour. Additionally, ISE's new offering will include a query tool to search all ISE traded issues and a scanning tool that will comb the market for sentiment levels that meet pre-defined parameters.

The traditional put/call ratio makes no distinction between customer and professional market maker activity, but the ISEE's sentiment index calculation is unique in that it only includes opening long ISE customer transactions in its calculation. ISEE may provide a more accurate reflection of true investor sentiment since trading activity by market makers and firms can skew a sentiment value. The ISEE calculation is currently updated hourly during market hours and available for no charge at http://www.iseoptions.com/marketplace/statistics/sentiment_index.asp.
