During January and February of 2007, BM&F was the second fastest growing exchange among derivatives exchanges, according to the Futures Industry Association (FIA) trading volume ranking for the first two months of the year.
BM&F’s interest rate futures market is already the eighth most liquid derivative contract in the world. According to FIA, BM&F registered the second fastest growth in percentage terms among the world’s top 20 derivatives exchanges, with a 50.5% increase in volume. Currently, as reported by FIA, BM&F is the eighth largest derivatives exchange in the world, based on the volume of contracts traded.
In the total, derivatives trading registered an increase of 11.8%, with 2.13 billion contracts traded. The exchange with the greatest growth in volume, according to FIA, was the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, trading 43.33 million more contracts than in the same period last year.
