Instinet Announces April 2002 U.S. Equity Share Volume and Market Share

Instinet Group Incorporated (Nasdaq: INET) announced today that its U.S. equity share volume in April 2002 totaled 5,786 million shares. This compares to 4,773 million shares in March 2002 and 7,873 million shares in April 2001.

Instinet's U.S. equity share volume in April comprised 4,807 million shares of Nasdaq-listed stocks and 979 million shares of exchange-listed stocks.

Instinet's estimated total U.S. equity market share for April 2002 was 7.8%. Estimated share of Nasdaq-listed volume was 12.3%, and of exchange-listed volume was 2.8%.
