Continuing its position as one of the capital markets industry’s leading financial-technology conference producers in the U.S. for the past 13 years, TABB Group has assembled one of its strongest programs with experts drawn from the asset management and capital markets to discuss how buy-side and sell-side financial technology are reshaping capital markets ecosystems.
To open FinTech Festival 2019: FinTech and the Future of Capital Markets Ecosystems, Mona Vernon, head of Fidelity Labs Business Incubator at Fidelity Investments, and Sarah Biller, executive director at Vantage Ventures and co-founder of the FinTech Sandbox, will address this year’s audience of more than 450 senior industry executives on “Evolutionary Capital Markets: How to Thrive in Open AI-Powered Platform Economy.” Following their address, Espen Skogen, founder and director, Rocketfin, and James Wooster, COO, Glue42 will give an opening presentation on “Behavior Mining: Finding Alpha in User-Behavior Analysis.”
They will be followed by TABB keynotes, the first by Monica Summerville, director, fintech research, head of TABB Group UK, sharing proprietary research results from TABB’s latest FinTech Adoption survey, discussing the emerging-tech stack in capital markets and highlighting the importance of ecosystems; the second by European market structure analyst Tim Cave, on how European regulations and the rise of Big Tech here and in the Far East are already impacting the US capital markets.
The conference will also include sessions moderated by Larry Tabb. founder and research chairman, and heads of research for fixed income and derivatives, George Bollenbacher and Russell Rhodes, respectively.
Emerging technology is clearly impacting capital markets participants’ choices around market collaboration partners, transaction venues and data, says Summerville, with the industry being transformed through technology, regulatory and market forces, resulting in global capital markets ecosystems that link infrastructure providers, institutional investors, brokers/dealers, service providers, and technology/data providers in innovative ways. Accelerating the rate of change is the convergence of emerging technologies including cloud, artificial intelligence, big data analytics and blockchain. “The industry is leveraging these technologies to create efficiencies and competitive advantage, bringing entirely new business models and revenue opportunities to light. To paraphrase Darwin, it’s not the fittest entities that thrive – it’s those most adaptable to change.”
