Inaugural US-Poland Business Week In New York - Top US And Poland Economic Leaders Convene To Discuss Ongoing Economic Partnership - Warsaw Stock Exchange Co-Organises The Initiative

The first ever US-Poland Business Week will be held in New York on October 10-12. In order to deepen collaboration between United States and Poland, business partners from both countries will participate in a series of conferences and debates.

In attendance will be representatives of government, business, and academia including US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sanchez, the Head of NYSE Euronext Duncan L. Niederauer, the Minister of Treasury of the Republic of Poland Mikołaj Budzanowski, Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Beata Stelmach, Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Treasury Paweł Tamborski, President of the US-Poland Business Council Eric Stewart, EU Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget Janusz Lewandowski, President of the Management Board and CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange Ludwik Sobolewski, and representatives of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy.

President and CEO of the Warsaw Stock Exchange will participate in a panel discussion entitled ‘Economic crisis: challenges and opportunities for companies’, alongside Chief Executive Officer of NYSE Euronext Duncan L. Niederauer, President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan Henryka Bochniarz, Member of the Board of Directors, American Chamber of Commerce in Poland Robert L. Koński, Vice President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy Witold Zieliński and Director of the Miller Canfield’s International Practice, Richard Walawander. The panel, which will take place at New York Stock Exchange on October 10, will be chaired by Eric Stewart, President of the US-Poland Business Council.

Ludwik Sobolewski will also take part in a panel discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future, which will take place at New York University Stern School of Business on October 11, with EU Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget Janusz Lewandowski, Professor of Economics in the Department of Finance at NYU Stern School of Business Viral V. Acharya and Markus K. Brunnermeier, Edwards S. Sanford Professor at Princeton University.

The US-Poland Business Week consists of important complementary events, including the US-Poland Economic Forum, devoted mostly to the issue of the economic crisis in Europe, and new possibilities, challenges, and innovations in the energy sector. There will also be a roundtable focusing on the role of women in business and economic transformation. Business debates will be accompanied by a cultural event – an exhibition entitled Alina Szapocznikow Sculpture Undone, 1955–1972, to be held at The Museum of Modern Art.

The organizers and partners of these series of events are: Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the US-Poland Business Council, the Ministry of Treasury, the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Polish Cultural Institute in New York, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, THINKTANK, New York University Stern School of Business, Global Summit of Women, Vital Voices Global Partnership, Citi Handlowy, Dom Maklerski Citi Handlowy, Janssen Poland, Headlines Porter Novelli, and other Polish and US companies.
 
Following the Poland-US Business Summit that was held in Warsaw in June, this initiative is an element of Poland’s strategy to strengthen US-Polish relations in the context of the Polish-American Strategic Dialogue.
