ICEX - Impact Of GICS Structural Changes On Classification of Listed Companies

Date 04/04/2005

At the close of April 29 the structure of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and Standard & Poor?s (S&P) will change as a result of an annual review. ICEX uses the standard for the industry classification of listed companies. One industry group will be redefined and renamed, two industries and seven sub-industries will be created in addition to some other definition and name changes. For further information, please consult the MSCI website, www.msci.com.

The only impact of these structural changes on the industry classification of listed companies at ICEX is the renaming of the sub-industry to which Fiskmarkadur Islands (code: FMB) belongs from ?Diversified Commercial Services? to ?Diversified Commercial & Professional Services? (GICS code 20201030). The GICS codes of all listed companies remain the same as before and the change has thus no impact on the constituents of ICEX sector indices.

Notice regarding the use of GICS:
The notice can be found on the ICEX website under the heading Quotes and markets>Share Indices>About indices: http://www.icex.is/is/shares_index?languageID=1&menu2show=1.5.1.1.
