IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), the leading electronic energy marketplace and soft commodity exchange, announced that its regulated UKbased futures subsidiary, ICE Futures, posted new open interest records exchange-wide and in the ICE WTI Crude and ICE Brent Crude futures contracts on Monday, March 12.
Exchange-wide open-interest yesterday totaled 1,705,884 contracts, exceeding the previous record of 1,668,391 contracts established on March 9.
Open interest in ICE Brent Crude futures set a record with 664,247 contracts. The previous record on February 8 was 642,958 contracts.
Open interest in ICE WTI Crude futures yesterday reached an all-time high of 577,954 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 560,785 contracts on March 9.
Open interest is the number of futures and option contracts that have not yet been exercised, expired, or fulfilled by delivery.
