ICE Announces IPE Brent Crude And Exchange-Wide Volume Records

IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) yesterday announced two new daily volume records, including exchange-wide volume and the benchmark IPE Brent crude futures contract. On August 10, IPE Brent crude futures volume reached 230,922 contracts, 23% higher than the previous record set July 13, 2005 of 187,295 contracts. Open interest in the IPE Brent crude contract stands at 391,264 contracts.

Trading in total IPE contracts yesterday set a new exchange-wide volume record of 295,501 contracts, exceeding the previous daily record, set June 9, 2005 of 247,179 contracts, by 20%. These all-time volume records reflect trading following the IPE’s transition from floor trading to electronic trading in April 2005.
