Horizon Software, the leading provider of electronic trading and algorithmic technology to the world's exchanges, banks, brokers and fund managers, was annouced winner of the Buy-Side Trading System of the Year award. The prestigious FOW awards select the best providers from the world's leading financial technology companies and revealed the winners at a Gala Dinner in London at which Icap's Group chief executive Michael Spencer was honoured with a lifetime achievement award.

An independent network of industry experts reviewed Horizon’s high-frequency trading solution, the Platform for Automated Trading (HPAT), which enables sell-side and buy-side institutions to develop and deploy proprietary algorithmic trading strategies within their EMS.
Using the innovative SCALA programming language, which is fully interoperable with Java™, the key benefit of HPAT is that clients can design, test and implement algorithms in a fraction of the time that would be required using other solutions. For example, a delta hedge or a volatility basket algorithm can be written in just a few lines of code, as opposed to the much larger effort that would be needed with any other algorithmic development tool. Instead of having to code every action from scratch, users have instant access to functionality developed and enhanced over many years.
