The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is pleased to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ashley Alder, has been appointed as Chair of the new Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) at IOSCO’s annual conference in Lima.
The SFC’s Chairman, Mr Carlson Tong said: “I am delighted with Ashley’s appointment to chair the new IOSCO’s Board which demonstrates Hong Kong’s standing as a leading international financial centre.”
The IOSCO Board is made up of 34 securities regulators around the world and is the governing and standard-setting body of the IOSCO, which is the leading international policy forum for securities regulators and its membership regulates more than 95% of the world's securities markets in more than 115 jurisdictions.
Mr Alder was most recently Vice Chair of the IOSCO Board and was also Chair of the IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee from 2013 to May 2016. He also chaired the IOSCO Task Force on cross-border regulation and currently heads the Task Force on Market Conduct.
