Hong Kong Stock Exchange Turnover Drops Drastically in February

Market turnover in February dropped dramatically from the previous month. The average daily turnover for the 17 trading days in February was HKD3,153 million, a decrease of 40 per cent compared with the previous month. Total turnover value for the month was HKD53,606 million compared with HKD104,448 million in January. A total of 32,940 million shares changed hands in February compared with 49,228 million shares in January. The average daily turnover by volume was 1,938 million shares, down 21 per cent from January. The total number of trades during the month was 541,263 which was 47 per cent less than in January.
