Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission CEO Appointed Chair Of IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Committee

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes the appointment of its Chief Executive Officer, Ms Julia Leung, as the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) (Notes 1 and 2).

Her two-year term will start on the date of the IOSCO Annual Meeting in May 2024.

Ms Leung said: “The IOSCO APRC plays an important role in building strong working relationships and enhancing collaboration between securities regulators in Asia-Pacific, as well as in ensuring that the regional voice is heard globally.”

“It is a privilege for me and the SFC to lead the APRC to help address common issues which securities regulators face and strengthen the resilience of capital markets in the region,” she added.

  1. IOSCO is the international body that brings together the world's securities regulators and is recognised as the global standard setter for the securities sector. Its membership regulates more than 95% of the world’s securities markets in more than 130 jurisdictions.
  2. The APRC is one of four regional committees constituted by IOSCO to focus on regional issues relating to securities regulation. It consists of 21 jurisdictions in the Asia-Pacific region as well as nine non-voting members. Information about IOSCO APRC membership is available at its website.
