Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission Cautions Public Against Impersonators Of SFC CEO

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today urges the public to beware of instant text messages impersonating the SFC’s Chief Executive Officer.

The SFC received a report from a member of the public who received text messages on WhatsApp purportedly from the SFC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms Julia Leung. These text messages contained investment recommendations.

The SFC wishes to stress that these instant text messages are fraudulent and has reported the case to the Police.

The SFC reminds the public to be cautious regarding imposter scams perpetrated via instant text messages and social media. The SFC also urges the public to refrain from sending money or personal information if requested to do so by any persons claiming to be SFC staff.
