The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has appointed Mr Keith Choy, Senior Director of Intermediaries, as Interim Head of Intermediaries, effective 1 January 2023.
Mr Choy will oversee the Intermediaries Division pending the appointment of a new Executive Director to head the Division following Ms Julia Leung’s appointment to the role as the Chief Executive Officer of the SFC (Note 1).
Mr Choy joined the SFC’s Enforcement Division in 1998 and moved to the current position in 2017 to direct intermediaries supervision activities, including inspections of SFC licensed firms, monitoring their financial health and identifying misconduct. He is also involved in the formulation and implementation of policies and regulations for the securities and futures industry.
Ms Leung, now the SFC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, said: “Keith’s appointment as Interim Head will ensure that the Intermediaries Division continues to operate at full strength before the appointment of a permanent replacement."
