Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange Appoints Albert Helmig As President Bringing Commodities Expertise And Leadership Experience To The Exchange

The Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (“HKMEx”), established to bridge the international commodities markets to China, today announces the appointment of Albert Helmig as President of HKMEx.

“I am very pleased to have someone of Albert’s calibre joining us. He is a seasoned professional with an outstanding track record ranging from commodity merchant trading to senior positions at the New York Mercantile Exchange. His deep experience in commodities trading and corporate leadership will prove invaluable as we build the premier trading platform for Asia,” said HKMEx Chairman Barry Cheung.

As President of HKMEx, Helmig will lead the day-to-day operation of the Exchange.

He brings to his new position more than 35 years of commodities experience spanning both physicals and financial instruments on a global basis. Helmig was a member of NYMEX for 16 years, where he sat on the Board of Directors, was elected to the Executive Committee and served as Vice Chairman.

Helmig was Founder and Chief Executive of Grey House LLC, a private consulting firm on risk management, price models and industry best practices. Clients ranged from financial institutions to producers and government agencies and ministries. He serves on the Advisory Board of Energy Intelligence Group.

Helmig holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from Philadelphia University.
